Recycling Building Materials Regulation

The Austrian regulation specifies requirements that must be met when demolishing structures, such as carrying out an investigation of pollutants and contaminants and dismantling structures in an organised and recycling-oriented manner. These measures lead to better suitability of the waste for the production of recycled building materials. In addition, the ordinance contains provisions for the further treatment of construction and demolition waste, quality specifications for the recycled building materials to be produced and specified areas of application for recycled building materials. As a result, a high environmental quality of the recycled building materials can be achieved, which leads to greater confidence in the use of these building materials. The regulation also stipulates that recycled building materials of the highest quality can lose their waste status prematurely if certain conditions are met.

Objectives:

Ensuring a high quality of waste Promoting recycling

Those affected are:

Building owners and construction and demolition companies

Waste collectors and processors

Manufacturers and users of recycled building materials
